Bio:

Mitches Pictures began in Brisbane in 2018, and in 2019, moved to Bundaberg for exciting new family opportunities. Since then, I’ve established myself in Bundaberg’s real estate and architectural photography industry, helping clients bring their visions to life.

My passion for photography dates back to my time as a projectionist, working with 35mm film and the old projectors in the cinema. This experience instilled in me a deep appreciation for the art of capturing moments and details—something I bring to every shoot today.

I’m dedicated to showcasing not just the spaces, but the lifestyle and personality that make your property or project unique, helping it reach its full potential.

    How Can We Help?

    An interview with Mitch Logue

Tell us a little about yourself.

My passion for photography dates back to my time as a projectionist, working with 35mm film and the old projectors in the cinema. This experience instilled in me a deep appreciation for the art of capturing moments and details—something I bring to every shoot today.

Since establishing myself in Bundaberg's real estate photography, I also work with small businesses. Being a small business owner myself, helping small businesses is a massive passion of mine. I've had the pleasure or working along side local restaurant's, butchers and various retail and service based businesses to renovate websites, create fresh marketing content and showcasing product and menu launches. Each project is been a close collaboration with the owner to achieve their vision to elevate their products and branding.

How would you describe your photographic style?

In a word - adaptive. Depending on the job and the client's vision depends on the process, each property I shoot has its own personality, with which various shooting methods may be used to show the unique charm and personality of the home.

With the advancement of technology within the industry, I'm constantly looking and researching for new methods to improve and add new skills to my arsenal.

What's your standard workflow when doing real estate photography, from arrival at the location through to delivery of the images?

Upon arriving at the property, before I pick up a camera, I introduce myself to the homeowner and find out their favourite features of the property and what they think makes the property stand out. Then I do a quick walkthrough and make sure lights are on, curtains are open and move any clutter with the homeowners permission. I give the homeowner a run down of the shooting process and inform them of where I'll be shooting and where the best hiding spots are.

The process of shooting internals, externals, drone may differ shoot to shoot depending on sun position, cloud cover or other factors beyond my control. Communication with the clients and their vendors is just as important to me as the shooting itself!

Once the shoot is complete images are processed and professionally edited ensuring the best possible image quality. Once images have been edited they are available via a download link, I strive to have all my photos completed and delivered back to clients the next day.

How important is Photoshop or digital editing to your process?

Post processing software such as lightroom or photoshop is crucial to achieving the best photos possible. Just like with film, photographers would go to the darkroom and dodge and burn their photos to expose the details of the shadows, dim the highlights to bring it together.

Nowadays, the digital photographer can sit at their laptop in their office, on the beach or at the location if needed and achieve these same results, much more precise and much more quicker!

What do you enjoy most about photographing real estate, architecture and the built environment?

What I enjoy most about photographing real estate is that no shoot is ever the same. One day I'm a stunning beach front apartment then the next, a rural property with paddocks of cattle and gum trees.

I love hearing the stories from home owners who have lived in their home for decades and what makes it a home to them, you can sense the connection and love they have to the home within the memories they share. Those memories and connection, I believe, lingers and helps make it a home for the next owners.

What has been the most memorable photo shoot you've ever done?

Early in my career I was lucky enough to have photographed a house that was made out of 3 decommissioned train carriages. Still, four years on, I've never seen another property as uniquely stunning as that.

What is your favourite type of property to shoot?

Being in Bundaberg, I see a lot of newly and locally designed houses, which are beautiful.

However, nothing wows me like an old Queenslander styled home. Something about the character of the Queenslander, they're an iconic Australiana style, designed for the hot summers and cold winters that come with living among the rural areas of Queensland. Every Queenslander I've been to has its own personality that you feel in every room. The VJ panels, ceiling roses, the wrap around decks on a high set, and the many antique and original features that show the decade of the build.

What advice would you give to someone in Bundaberg who was selling their home?

Taking steps to ensure the property is photo ready and at its best can be crucial. This can include decluttering counter tops, removing personal effects and pet accessories, mowing lawns and tidying gardens. Ensuring the property is at its best, ensures the best possible photos to stand out in Bundaberg's competitive market.

If the seller is choosing an agent and not selling privately, I would recommend using a local agent who knows the area. Over the years I've seen a lot of sellers using friends or family who are agents in Brisbane or Sunshine coast because of a cheaper rate. These properties, from my experience, tend to stay on the market longer as the agents may not have buyers interested in an area outside their normal service area and may not be familiar with the surrounding areas.

Local agents will always have buyers ready to go in that area and have a good knowledge of the local area to help sell your home quicker. Overall, when picking an agent or photographer, cheaper is rarely better!

What do you like to do away from work?

When I'm not behind the camera, I'm enjoying the quieter moments life has to offer. Bundaberg has plenty of picturesque locations along the coastline, perfect for wetting a line and trying a catch some dinner. Most of my favourite and most successful fishing spots are in Burnett Heads.

The surrounding Wide Bay area has an almost endless amount of national parks to explore, the Utopia Rock Pools, located in Mount Walsh National Park just near Childers is one of my favourites.
