“Gorgeous photos present you as a thought leader”

I just came across this video featuring Pia Silver, author of Badass Your Brand, and she says this:

“Gorgeous photos present you as a thought leader.

You could be the most badass thought leader in your industry, [but] if you don’t look it, if you don’t present like it, no one’s going to listen to you.

… If you want to be a thought leader in your industry, you’re going to want to invest in your brand. And that means investing in photos, videos, social media and your writing.”

In this context Pia is referring to portrait images of you, and they definitely matter as well. But within the world of real estate agents and real estate marketing the photos used in property marketing campaigns are the equivalent of headshots and social media images. They are the photos that attract buyers to homes and sellers to agents. Those photos can make – and break – entire careers.

So yes, “gorgeous photos present you as a thought leader”, and those photos can be pictures of you, or those real estate photography images you’ve uploaded to your local MLS or online real estate portal.

Of course, the quality of the photographer makes a difference, too. As Pia notes:

“A great photographer asks the right questions.”

And again, that applies in real estate marketing as well. When you’re working with a photographer you want to make sure they’re in communication with you to ask about the focus of your real estate marketing campaign, what do you want to be the ‘hero shot’, and how are you going to be marketing this property?

Your photographer is part of your marketing team, and so it’s important that you trust them, and that they themselves are aware and in tune with you in terms of the marketing of each unique home you have listed as a real estate agent.

Do you need a real estate photographer, one who is a real expert at what they do, to help establish you as a thought leader?
