An interview with Nolan Hansen
Tell us a little about yourself.
I am a lifelong Brookings, SD native. My passion for photography can be traced back to my single digits years when I was experimenting with my dad’s camera.
Outside of the office, I really enjoy golfing, watching basketball, and traveling the country. I’m a proud alum of Great Plains Lutheran High School, and I currently am in college pursuing a Networking and Cyber Security specialist degree.
How would you describe your photographic style?
I’m determined to provide my clients with high-quality media services. It’s my goal to help build your brand and I love my job with the passion. It’s about the current listing, it’s about the future and building up your brand.
What's your standard workflow when doing real estate photography, from arrival at the location through to delivery of the images?
When I first get on site, I will talk a little bit with the homeowner if they are present. If need be, I will get all the lights on.
After that, I take a tour of the house and make sure everything is photography ready! Then I take the photos, with the 360 Virtual Tour to follow!
After that, it’s time to edit, build the property website, and deliver!
What do you enjoy most about photographing real estate, architecture and the built environment?
My favorite part about my job is having my clients tell me how much my services help build their brand. My favorite story was when I photographed a house in my hometown, and I had a realtor call me afterwards and say that they sold that house to someone in Seattle, Washington without giving a showing.
They were so impressed with the virtual walk-through and how high-quality the photos were. They knew that that was a place that they wanted to live.
What has been the most memorable photo shoot you've ever done?
I enjoy all my photoshoots, because I know that my clients understand the value in my services. The most memorable photo shoot I had was of a beautiful lake home in the late afternoon on a hot summer day. The homeowner invited me to join them for a smoked beef-brisked dinner at their home following the shoot!
